AIAI welcomes the Supreme Court’s move to Protect Women’s Dignity.

A Historic Day in the Indian Social Justice System. A progressive India, has taken a huge step to protect the dignity, equality of women by giving legal protection to address them in a manner that they deserve. Indeed, a welcome step in the right direction.

Dr. Vijay Kalantri, President of All India Association of Industries, while welcoming this development, said that the society will be careful while addressing, treating women as a ‘weaker gender’.  He also felt this good news needs wide publicity. He added that this historic development will be a game changer in the Indian Social Justice System. AIAI welcomes this development wholeheartedly.

On 16 th  August 2023, The Supreme Court of India has, after extensive deliberations with all stakeholders, society has released a 30 page document ‘Handbook on Combating Gender Stereotypes’ by Dr. Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud, The Chief Justice of India.

Dr. Kalantri further added that the purpose of this document is to give clarity,direction and legal protection to Women who have been subjected to different treatment in the society, family, workplace, profession and so forth as a ‘weaker gender’. This may not be possible from now on by those who still are unable to get out of chauvinistic temper.

This Handbook addresses the language, mindset of the opposite gender who address women casually, mischievously and in a derogatory manner against the wishes of women.  This document is a valuable one that all must read and cherish.

This step was conceptualized during the COVID 19 Pandemic and discussions began with many sources including among prominent Legal luminaries, Social Research Forums, Academics.
