Amended cinematograph bill 2023 is a big boost to the Indian film and entertainment industry.

All India Association of Industries (AIAI) welcomes the long pending amendments to the outdated Cinematograph Bill 2023 that was passed by the both the Houses in the Parliament yesterday.  This amended bill will have very positive impact on the Film industry that was losing about Rs.22000 crores each year on piracy which was the key hurdle that this Bill has addressed effectively, said Dr. Vijay Kalantri , President – All India Association of Industries (AIAI),Chairman – WTC Mumbai.

Stringent punishment has been introduced for piracy that would attract imprisonment for a minimum of 3 years plus 5% of the production cost of the film. This indeed a welcome step that would deter rampant piracy in the film industry.

Multiple layers of film certification have been introduced to cover various age levels right from 7 years onwards under parental guidance.  Government would also come up with guidelines and policy to certify film content for Television, OTT, and other social media platforms. This move has expanded the good governance to all mediums.

Dr. Kalantri, sees these amendments will give morale booster to the film producers, distributors, and the support industry and enable holistic growth of the film and entertainment industry.
