India Post Releases Commemorative Postal Cover for MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai Recognizing Its Contribution to Global Trade for Over Five Decades

Mumbai, 15th April 2026: World Trade Center Mumbai (MVIRDC) was honored with a Special Postal Cover issued by India Post, recognizing its outstanding contribution to the growth of trade and industry in the country. To commemorate this significant achievement, All India Association of Industries (AIAI), in association with World Trade Center Mumbai and India Post, hosted a special event celebrating over five decades of its exemplary role in shaping India’s global trade landscape. Over the years, the institution has been instrumental in connecting Indian businesses with international markets, facilitating cross-border
trade, and fostering strong economic partnerships across the globe.

Dr. Vijay Kalantri, President, All India Association of Industries (AIAI) and Chairman, World Trade Center Mumbai, said “We take immense pride in reflecting on the journey of WTC Mumbai, founded on the visionary ideals of Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya, who believed in nation-building through planning, innovation, and enterprise. WTC Mumbai was established with a vision to position Mumbai, th commercial capital of India as a global hub for trade and commerce. We also recall with pride that the land for the Center was allotted under the leadership of Morarji Desai, who later inaugurated the facility during his tenure as Prime Minister, marking a significant moment in our institutional history. Our foundation rests on the belief in bringing prosperity through trade. Over the years, this has enabled us to continuously adapt to changing global dynamics while staying committed to supporting the growth of businesses especially MSMEs and contributing meaningfully to the nation’s economic progress.”

In the Keynote Address Shri. Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, acknowledged the significant role played by WTC Mumbai in strengthening India’s trade ecosystem. He said “Institutions like WTC Mumbai create meaningful platforms for business interaction, which remain indispensable for fostering trade and collaboration. He highlighted the evolving role of India Post as a logistics enabler, underlining its expanding infrastructure and growing partnerships that support trade and
commerce across the country.”

The occasion was further commemorated with the release of a Special Postal Cover, officially stamped to mark the milestone and recognize WTC Mumbai’s contribution to trade and industry development over five decades. Special covers issued by India Post serve as a lasting record of significant milestones, and this release symbolized recognition of WTC Mumbai’s sustained efforts in promoting trade and investment.”
