Government is committed to giving high priority to water security and is in the process of operationalising the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) with the vision to ensure access to water to every agricultural farm for minimizing the impact of vagaries of monsoon.
Several meetings involving Ministry of Agriculture (MoA); Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation (MoWR, RD&GR) and Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) have been held to discuss on the frame work of the programme. Rs.4300 crore has been allocated for 2015-16 across these three ministries in the budget announcement for implementation of PMKSY throughout the country and Rs.1000 crore for Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) in the budget of MoWR, RD& GR.
